Coconut fatty acid DEA
Other commercial names
Cocamide DEA, Cocamide diethanolamide, Diethanolamide fatty acid diethanolamide
Chemical formula
CH3(CH2)nC(=o)N(CH2CH2OH)2
n ~ 8-18
Physical properties
DEA Cocamide is a yellowish and relatively viscous liquid.
Product type
Industrial
Interactions
Cocamide has a relatively alkaline PH and is stable in neutral, alkaline or weakly acidified setting, but it gets hydrolyzed in high acidic or alkaline environments.
Production Process
One of the method of making of Loramid is the direct reaction between coconut fatty acid and diethanolamine which is called “the Kritchevsky method”.
Storage
Storage is carried out in original sealed containers for moisture protection. Loramid requires very little neutralizing agent to achieve neutral pH .
